In July 2024, NW Goldberg Cares hosted the second annual Hoopfest at Curtis Jones Park—a high-energy, three-day community event that combined competitive play with celebration. The festival featured free food trucks, giveaways (including over 100 donated sneakers), and an adults-only performance by Detroit rapper Baby Money. Attendees competed in games and skills challenges, while celebrity guests like former NBA star Chris Webber and Detroit rapper Baby Money added excitement. The event also included a special celebrity match with Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield, highlighting intergenerational and civic engagement. Hoopfest brought new life to NW Goldberg, offering a space for residents to connect, play, and celebrate the legacy of neighborhood basketball legend Curtis Jones.Â
