JOB OPENING:

Youth Sports Counselor

PLAY NW GOLDBERG is a fully outdoor summer program of NW Goldberg Cares that brings an opportunity for both open and structured sports/athletics-based play to the children of NW Goldberg and the surrounding neighborhoods.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily engagement with youth participants through active sports play
  • Direct supervision of youth participants ensuring safety on and off site
  • Cleaning, inspection and disinfection of sports equipment
  • Set-up and breakdown of sports equipment
  • Manage distribution of lunch and/or snacks
  • Assess condition of sports equipment to determine if its safe to use or needs to be replaced/maintained
  • Communication with supervisor(s) on challenges and areas for improvement
  • Maintaining and promoting of PLAY NW GOLDBERG mission and goals
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • High school degree or equivalent; some college/bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience as participant or coach in youth athletics programs
  • Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of 10-20 children in an outdoor, sports-focused setting
  • Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
  • Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have the appropriate expectations of their abilities
  • CPR/First Aid certification required, but strongly preferred

FURTHER DETAILS:

The Youth Sports Counselor will report directly to the Director of Programming.  

This is an hourly position, paying $20/hr, working approx. 32 hours per week from June 15 through Aug. 13, 2026.
