PLAY NW GOLDBERG is a fully outdoor summer program of NW Goldberg Cares that brings an opportunity for both open and structured sports/athletics-based play to the children of NW Goldberg and the surrounding neighborhoods.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily engagement with youth participants through active sports play
- Direct supervision of youth participants ensuring safety on and off site
- Cleaning, inspection and disinfection of sports equipment
- Set-up and breakdown of sports equipment
- Manage distribution of lunch and/or snacks
- Assess condition of sports equipment to determine if its safe to use or needs to be replaced/maintained
- Communication with supervisor(s) on challenges and areas for improvement
- Maintaining and promoting of PLAY NW GOLDBERG mission and goals
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- High school degree or equivalent; some college/bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience as participant or coach in youth athletics programs
- Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of 10-20 children in an outdoor, sports-focused setting
- Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
- Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have the appropriate expectations of their abilities
- CPR/First Aid certification required, but strongly preferred
FURTHER DETAILS:
The Youth Sports Counselor will report directly to the Director of Programming.
This is an hourly position, paying $20/hr, working approx. 32 hours per week from June 15 through Aug. 13, 2026.
