2025 LEARNING IN THE HOLLAND MAZE PROGRAM ASSISTANT
The purpose of LEARNING IN THE HOLLAND MAZE is to create access to literacy and other critical subjects of education for Detroit children while incorporating the rich history of Detroit and the NW Goldberg neighborhood.
LEARNING IN THE HOLLAND MAZE builds social cohesion and creates a safe space for children and families to learn and create positive memories through reading, music and interactive instruction.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist lead instructors with the implementation of early childhood literacy and learning activities, ensuring a fun and engaging environment for participants
Supervise and interact with children during program sessions, promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere for their growth and development
Prepare, organize, and distribute materials and supplies needed for daily literacy activities and lessons
Monitor student progress, provide one-on-one or small-group support as needed, and report observations to lead instructors
Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within the program area, adhering to program guidelines and safety standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
Be at least 18 years of age
High school degree or equivalent; some college/bachelor's degree preferred
Experience working with children
Certificate in early childhood education or currently working towards a completion of one preferred
Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of 5-15 children in an outdoor setting
Possess a strong worth ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have the appropriate expectations of their abilities
CPR/First Aid certification is not required, but strongly preferred
FURTHER DETAILS:
The Program Assistants will report directly to the LEARNING IN THE HOLLAND MAZE lead instructors.

COMPENSATION:
$20 per hour, working approx. 24 hours per week from June 23 through Aug. 8, 2025 (with one week off)
